Dine at the Baltazar Steakhouse

We recently had the pleasure of dining at the exquisite restaurant in Hotel Kempinski. The Baltazar Restaurant is found on the ground floor and faces the pool area, so you can relax as you sit down for breakfast, looking over the water.

The idea behind the dining options at the Kempinski Hotel Bahia is a “Promenade by the Sea.” You can enter the hotel, have a drink at the Black Rose Bar and then go downstairs or to Baltazar or the Spiler Beach Club and then go to the beach for a stroll. Anyone can access the restaurants, as it’s not exclusive to hotel guests.

The atmosphere at the Baltazar is chilled and laid back, as jazz music can be heard in the background. You can also can see the chefs cooking behind the grills and overall people sitting in different styles of tables and settings and overall it has a lovely ambiance. The Baltazar Bar & Grill is a stylish and cosy steakhouse, where the chefs only use the most honest and purest natural ingredients that are sourced locally, applying local and international cooking techniques.

To start, we ordered the seasoned chicken and ginger soup that was recommended to us by the waiter. Served in a special bowl, we loved the presentation.

For the main course, we had the baked sea bass which was perfectly cooked and served with soft white potatoes and underneath had garlic onion and peppers, which were complimented delightfully with a crisp sauvignon blanc. We were also impressed by the variety of the dessert menu, although we decided to skip it as we were so full.

The day that we visited, there were specials of the day on offer, and there was Turbot and Monkfish. We had a very pleasant experience at the Baltazar restaurant, of which we’re excited to share more details in the future, as the restaurant part is now closed for reforms for a few weeks at this time.

A lovely detail worth mentioning was the gorgeous lighting in the restaurant which added to the overall ambience and laid-back vibe. The service was outstanding as we were well tended to from start to finish if everything was to our taste.

The hotel is about 5 minutes from Estepona, 15 minutes from Puerto Banús and 20 minutes from Marbella. Malaga airport is about 80 km away and Gibraltar airport is about 40 km away.
