Vino Mio – Authentic Cuisine and Flamenco in the Heart of Malaga

If you find yourself in Malaga, you must have catching a flamenco show on your to-do list. Vino Mio treats its guests to regular shows combined with top-notch traditional tapas.

Located in the heart of Malaga, Vino Mio invites you to come and enjoy what is the authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Found just in front of the Cervantes Theatre, the restaurant’s prize ingredients are olive oil, fish and meat. In Vino Mio, you’ll feel that you’ve been transported to the historic Malaga, where you can enjoy the flavours and unique recipes of the authenticity and vibrant culture of Andalusia.

Ran by owner Helene, Vino Mio hosts daily flamenco shows, which create an enchanting and electric atmosphere for everyone. If you want to experience the true essence of Malaga, then look no further. A well-travelled lady herself, and has a touch of quality to Malaga with her passion for her work that is hard to match anywhere else.

Her attention to detail means she selects most of the large collection of wines that they stock plus she speaks to her clients and staff at all times to gain their feedback as well so she can keep improving the experience.

In 2012 Vino Mio opened its lounge bar next to the Cervantes Theatre in downtown Malaga, which is open from 13:00 until 2.00 am and on weekends until 3.00. The terrace makes for a perfect plan to soak in the ambience of the square, matched with Vino Mio’s culinary team, cooking up delicious plates one after another, featuring traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a hint of various international influences.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Vino Mio, and we’re excited to share our experience. The wait staff was exceptional from start to finish. We were recommended a light and smooth Sauvignon Blanc to accompany our meal.

For starters, we chose the king prawns with vegetables wrapped in a crispy filo pastry accompanied by a tomato and oregano jam. The combination was sublime, with a lot of flavours coming through that complimented each other perfectly.

For the main course, we went for stir-fried king prawns with vegetables and Thai sauce  with noodles. We tucked into two succulent prawn dishes. Guests will find that the dishes on the menu are wonderfully varied, stepping out of the boundaries of an ordinary Mediterranean restaurant.

Having arrived around 7.20pm to meet with Helene, we had picked the perfect night to go as one of their celebrated Flamenco dancers happened to be performing. By 19.30 pm there were already six tables filled and by 7.45 pm, the place was buzzing with a mixture of nationalities all enjoying the music and dancing as well as the excellent menu.

We asked four or five people in couples what made them visit Vino Mio and some said they had already been before, and that it was one of their favourite regular spots to eat out and also be entertained. For example, a young British couple said that they had found it after a  Google search and it was their first visit, and were certain that they would come back.

Overall, Helene and her staff have succeeded in creating a unique atmosphere that is hard to beat hosting live Flamenco music at around 20 pm it allows the customers to find somewhere where they can dine in style but also be entertained at the same time and this makes it a wonderful enjoyable night all round.

The warm staff smile and enjoy the experience with you and some of them have been with Helene for over 10 years, which shows an amazing loyalty and love for working at Vino Mio as their passion for serving the customer by making the experience a special one is clear to see.

Overall, Vino Mio is the restaurant we recommend for Malaga and to see one of their Flamenco nights as the performers are exceptional and they interact with the dining guest. If you want to top off a great night they will have you dancing with them for five minutes or so, making it an unforgettable night.
